An Intense γ-ray Beam Line of 10 MeV Order Based on Compton Backscattering
نویسنده
چکیده
Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source, a γ-ray beam line of 10MeV order was proposed recently. The beam line is expected to generate γ-ray with maximum energy of 22MeV by backward Compton scattering between CO2 laser and electron in the 3.5GeV storage ring of future Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The flux of non-collimated γ-ray can be 10 ∼ 10 s if a commercial CO2 laser of 100W order output power is employed and injected with optimized settings.

Ultrahigh brilliance quasi-monochromatic MeV γ-rays based on self-synchronized all-optical Compton scattering
Inverse Compton scattering between ultra-relativistic electrons and an intense laser field has been proposed as a major route to generate compact high-brightness and high-energy γ-rays. Attributed to the inherent synchronization mechanism, an all-optical Compton scattering γ-ray source, using one laser to both accelerate electrons and scatter via the reflection of a plasma mirror, has been demo...

Laser Compton scattering (LCS) light sources can provide high-energy photons from keV to MeV range. Many research and development projects of linac-based LCS sources are carried on. For the photon energies of tens keV, linac-based LCS sources realize laboratory-size X-ray sources, of which performance is potentially comparable to 2 generation synchrotron light sources. Linac-based LCS also real...
متن کاملLaser-Electron Storage Ring as a Compact Source of High-Intensity X-rays
Recent progress in high power laser development has attracted a growing interest in generating x-rays by Compton (or Thomson) backscattering an intense laser pulse off a high energy electron beam [1,2]. If λ L is the laser wavelength, γ is the electron energy in units of its rest mass mec , and θ is the angle of the scattered x-ray photon with respect to the direction of the electron trajectory...
متن کاملLaser-Electron Storage Ring
A compact laser-electron storage ring (LESR) is proposed for electron beam cooling or x-ray generation. The LESR uses an intense laser pulse stored in a highnesse resonator to interact repetitively with a circulating electron beam in the energy range from a few MeV to a few hundred MeV. The rapid damping caused by laser-electron interaction counterbalances the intrabeam scattering e ect, thus a...
متن کاملHigh flux circularly polarized gamma beam factory: coupling a Fabry-Perot optical cavity with an electron storage ring
We report and discuss high-flux generation of circularly polarized γ-rays by means of Compton scattering. The γ-ray beam results from the collision of an external-cavity-enhanced infrared laser beam and a low emittance relativistic electron beam. By operating a non-planar bow-tie high-finesse optical Fabry-Perot cavity coupled to a storage ring, we have recorded a flux of up to (3.5 ± 0.3) × 10...
